Aspect ratio calculator
Type a width and height to get the exact ratio, or keep a ratio and work out the missing side in whole pixels.
The live calculator needs JavaScript. Without it, the worked example below shows what it calculates.
Find the ratio
- Exact ratio
- 64:27
- Width ÷ height
- 2.3704
- Orientation
- Landscape
- Common name
- exactly 21:9 close to 21:9 none
Resize with the same ratio
- Whole result: 1366 × 768 px.
- Not a whole number: 1366 × 768 px is rounded, so the shape is very slightly off.
- Nearest sizes with the exact ratio: 1360 × 765 and 1376 × 774.
- Nearest size with the exact ratio: 1376 × 774.
Everything is calculated in your browser. Nothing you type is sent or saved.
How to use it
- Enter a width and a height in pixels: the exact ratio and its common name appear at once.
- To resize, enter a ratio and the side you know. The other side is calculated in whole pixels.
- If the result is not a whole number, use one of the nearest exact sizes shown below it.
Example
1920 × 1080 reduces to 16:9. A 2560 × 1080 monitor is 64:27 exactly and is sold as 21:9.
Good to know
- Marketing names are rounded: “21:9” monitors are 64:27 or 43:18, and phones sold as “19.5:9” differ by a few pixels.
- Two screens with the same ratio take the same wallpaper without cropping; only the number of pixels differs.
- Scaling an image to another ratio either crops it or leaves bars. The crop calculator shows how much.
