Wallpaper crop and fit calculator

An image rarely has the shape of your screen. Enter both sizes to see what filling the screen cuts away and what fitting the whole image leaves empty. No upload: only the numbers.

The live calculator needs JavaScript. Without it, the worked example below shows what it calculates.

74.1%
  • Crop 996 × 2160 px, from the left 1422 px, from the top 0 px
  • Cut from the left and right: 2844 px in total
  • Enlarged ×1.18 to fill the screen, so it can look softer.

Fit the whole image

Screen covered by the image
25.9%
  • Image on the screen: 1179 × 663 px
  • Empty on the top and bottom: 1893 px in total

Everything is calculated in your browser. Nothing you type is sent or saved.

How to use it

  1. Enter the image size (the original file) and the screen size you want the wallpaper for.
  2. Fill the screen: the largest centered area of the screen’s shape is kept and the rest is cut.
  3. Fit the whole image: nothing is cut, and the space the image does not cover stays empty.

Example

A 3840 × 2160 image on a 1179 × 2556 phone keeps a 996 × 2160 area (25.9% of the image). Fitted whole, it fills only 25.9% of the screen.

Good to know

  • The crop is the same calculation the site’s editor starts from, centered. In the editor you can move it to keep the part you like.
  • Enlarging past the image’s own pixels adds no detail. Prefer an image at least as large as the screen.
  • This page reads only numbers. No image is uploaded or stored.
